The 2025 Women's European Championship in Switzerland is just a matter of days away now, and Italy Women's National Team coach Andrea Soncin has finally named his 23-player squad for the tournament. Having initially called up 35 players, the Azzurre boss has trimmed his selection and confirmed those who will be travelling to the tourmament.

Since ending their UEFA Women's Nations League campaign with a draw at home to Sweden and a win in Wales to clinch a second-place group finish, the Azzurre then had two mini training camps at Coverciano: the first from 16 to 19 June, and the second from 22 to 25 June.

Now, Soncin has named his final squad for Women's EURO 2025.

Surprise decisions: Bergamaschi out, Piga in

There are two names that immediately stand out from the 23 players that Andrea Soncin has chosen. AC Milan's Julie Piga has been handed a place among the defenders, whilst Lazio midfielder Eleonora Goldoni is in the midfield.

A notable absentee from the defence is Juventus' Valentina Bergamaschi who would bring a lot of experience and versatility, whilst Aurora Galli's lack of football recently has seen her miss out. In the attack, AS Roma's Valentina Giacinti clearly had too bad of a domestic season for Soncin to bring her to Switzerland.
