Women's Serie A 2023/24: Player of the Week – Matchday 11
With Matchday 11 of the Women's Serie A season taking domestic action into the winter break, nobody shone brighter in their final fixture of 2023 than Fiorentina's Veronica Boquete as she earns our Player of the Week prize. The Spaniard continued her incredible form for the Viola this season with a hat-trick against Inter, consolidating Fiorentina as Italy's third-best side, and placing them to push Juventus in second.
Naturally, Boquete's performance against Inter also earned her a place in our Women's Serie A Team of the Week.
Boquete has been a guarantee for Sebastian de la Fuente since he took the job in Florence in the summer, and so far has six goals and two assists from midfield in 11 league outings.

Boquete showing no signs of slowing down at 36
Now 36 years of age, Veronica Boquete has been showing no signs of slowing down for Fiorentina Women, which many might have expected of her after being pushed out the door at AC Milan by former coach Maurizio Sanz.
"Leader, personality, ambition, an example on and off the pitch," wrote AS Roma Women striker Valentina Giacinti of her former AC Milan and Fiorentina teammate after Boquete's hat-trick against Inter. "[You're] Thirty-six years old and you run like you're 16."
Giacinti's words perfectly sum up what Boquete has been and continues to be for Fiorentina. With De la Fuente having a squad that doesn't boast all that much experience, and with Italy Women's National Team youngster Emma Severini by her side in midfield, what Boquete brings to the Viola is invaluable.
Expectedly, praise poured in for Boquete after her performance to bring Matchday 11 to an end on Monday evening, with fans online labelling her an "extraordinary footballer", a player with "incredible heart", and joining Giacinti in complimenting the Spaniard on her hat-trick.
