Serie A table after Matchday 31
Empoli were the biggest beneficiaries of the 2023/24 Serie A Matchday 31 action, with a 3-2 win over Torino allowing the Tuscans to rise out of the relegation zone. Although Cagliari also moved further away from the bottom three with a 2-1 win over Champions League qualification hopefuls Atalanta.

Fourth placed Bologna failed to take advantage, though, as they drew 0-0 with Frosinone on Sunday - a result that saw the Caranini fall to 18th - and AS Roma closed the gap on the Rossoblo to three points, with a 1-0 win over Lazio in the Derby della Capitale.
The weekend also started with Sassuolo failing to lift themselves towards safety on Friday, after letting a two-goal lead against Salernitana slip, to draw 2-2. While AC Milan and Napoli picked up three points valuable points, after defeating Lecce and Monza respectively.

Hellas Verona could not improve their chances of survival as Genoa beat them 2-1 at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi, to finish the weekend 17th and one point from the relegation zone.
Sunday ended with Juventus overcoming Fiorentina 1-0 during an unentertaining clash in Turin, while Udinese missed the chance to add another point to their hopes of survival, as Inter stole all three points in injury-time, with a Davide Frattesi goal on Monday night.
