The Italy Women's National Team continune their 2025 Women's European Championship campaign on Matchday 2 with a Group B match against Portugal, off the back of their opening-day victory against Belgium.
Whilst securing the three points against Belgium was the ultimate aim, it is fair to say that the Azzurre's performance left a lot to be desired. Nonetheless, if Spain beat Belgium in the earlier match and then Italy get the better of Portugal, Andrea Soncin's side will be through to the quarter-finals with a game to spare.
Portugal will have a point to prove after being beaten 5-0 by Spain in their Group B opener, especially given it was 4-0 by half-time. They know that only a win will do against Italy if they are to have a real chance of progression, so Italy may need to weather an early storm.
Portugal vs Italy: Predicted line-ups
For fans of Serie A Women, the Portugal squad is not going to look very familiar at all. Kika Nazareth is not expected to feature as she continues her recovery from an ankle injury, whilst the likes of Ana Seica and Ana Borges may hope that their second-half performances against Spain have earned them starts against Italy.
As for Italy, Soncin's lineup is even harder to predict than the first game. There were no injuries picked up against Belgium, but having played Cristiana Girelli for the full 90 minutes, it may be wise to try and save her for Spain. Beyond that, no major changes are expected against Portugal.
