Serie A 2023/24: Matchday 17 results

Matchday 17 of the 2023/24 Serie A season would be the last before Christmas day, meaning players knew they had a duty to give their fans something to cheer about before the big day.

The action got underway with an unusual four matches on a Friday night. Lazio beat Empoli 2-0 in Tuscany in one of the early kick-offs, whilst a comeback from Genoa that featured an excellent late Caleb Ekuban goal meant the Grifone won 2-1 in Reggio Emilia against Sassuolo.

In the later games, there was drama in Salerno as AC Milan could only snatch a late 2-2 draw against Salernitana. The game ended with a brawl involving players and staff. In the other game, Fiorentina won 1-0 at Monza with Lucas Beltran scoring.

In Saturday's first match, goals from Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic secured a 2-1 win for Juventus away at Frosinone. Later in the day, Lewis Ferguson's late goal gave Bologna a 1-0 win over Atalanta, whilst Torino and Udinese drew 1-1.

Later in the evening, there were three 2-0 home wins, with Inter beating Lecce, Hellas Verona beating Cagliari, and AS Roma beating Napoli.
