Empoli received nothing less than they deserved on Serie A Matchday 12, as they earned a shock victory against Napoli. 

Many expected the Partenopei to walk over their visitors, but the game never went that way. Napoli created nothing of much meaning. On the other hand, the Azzurri looked threatening on several occasions. 

In the 91st minute, Empoli finally got what they deserved through Viktor Kovalenko. The Ukrainian midfielder's effort curled past the flailing Pierluigi Gollini in the Napoli goal, kissing the post on its way in.

The result moves Empoli out of the relegation zone. Rudi Garcia's time as the Ciucciarelli's head coach is seemingly over - after another unacceptable result and speculation that Sunday's game may define his future.
