The 2024/25 Men's Serie A campaign got underway on August 17 with four matches being played across two time slots, and big teams were dropping points straight from the off.

The opening two matches were Parma vs Fiorentina and Genoa vs Inter, and both games had plenty of drama. Parma's return to Serie A started with a 1-1 draw in which they were leading until the 75th minute.

Champions Inter were not at their expected best as they could only draw 2-2 in Liguria, with Junior Messias scoring a 95th-minute equaliser for Alberto Gilardino's side.

In the later games, Empoli hosted Monza which ended 0-0, whilst AC Milan's time under Paulo Fonseca began with a 2-2 draw at home to Torino with the Rossoneri losing 2-0 until the 89th minute.

Sunday's action saw Bologna and Udinese draw 1-1, whilst Antonio Conte's first league game with Napoli ended in a shocking 3-0 defeat away at Verona.

AS Roma only managed to draw 0-0 away at Cagliari in their season opener with Paulo Dybala starting on the bench. Their rivals Lazio had a better time at the Stadio Olimpico, coming from a goal down to beat Venezia 3-1.

On Monday night, Atalanta dominantly beat Lecce 4-0 in Salento with new signings Marco Brescianini and Mateo Retegui both scoring twice, before Juventus impressed as they beat Como 1907 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium.
