It took until Matchday 4 of the 2024/25 Men's Serie A campaign for AC Milan to find a win, but it came in stunning fashion, with the Rossoneri thrashing newly-promoted Venezia 4-0 at the Stadio San Siro on Saturday night. After fellow Scudetto hopefuls Juventus drew 0-0 with Empoli, and Como 1907 and Bologna had started the action with a 2-2 draw.

On Sunday, the struggles of AS Roma continued, as a last-gasp Koni De Winter header secured a 1-1 draw for Genoa, while Atalanta and Fiorentina were playing out a five-goal thriller in Bergamo, that La Dea won 3-2. Which made up for a goalless draw between Torino and Lecce in Turin.

Later that day, Napoli moved to the top of the standings with a 4-0 win over Cagliari. The Partenopei probably expected to be overtaken by Inter almost immediately, but the reigning champions could only draw 1-1 with Monza, and had looked like losing until a late Denzel Dumfries goal.

Monday night, though, saw Udinese steal top spot from the Neapolitans with a 3-2 comeback win over Parma. Before Lazio ended the weekend by defeating Hellas Verona 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
