Serie A 23/24 – Matchday 38 Player of the Week

Serie A MD38 POTW Cancellieri

Matteo Cancellieri was selected as our Serie A Player of the Week after his involvement in both Empoli goals against AS Roma.

The 22-year-old opened the scoring after he calmly controlled a pass from Emmanuel Gyasi, and slotted the ball past Mile Svilar in the Giallorossi goalkeeper. Although Houssem Aouar equalised for the Romans just before half-time, Cancellieri turned provider as he supplied a low cross for M'Baye Niang to score the winner in the dying minutes.

The last-ditch winner allowed Empoli to stay in Serie A and condemned Frosinone to Serie B.
