In what is good news for fans of Italian women's football - and what is also undeniable progress after the debacle of last season - a deal has been struck for DAZN and Rai to hold onto their rights to broadcast Women's Serie A matches.

The deal means that every single Women's Serie A fixture in 2024/25 will be shown on DAZN, while Rai will also show one game per Matchday on free-to-air television in Italy. Rai will also broadcast the Coppa Italia Femminile and the Supercoppa Italiana Femminile finals.

A year on from the 2023/24 season beginning without a rights deal in place, the confirmation of the deal with DAZN and Rai continuing suggests progress for Italian women's football.

As well, this current arrangement will last for three Women's Serie A seasons (2024/25, 2025/26, and 2026/27).

As is the case in much of Europe, DAZN will be the home of top-flight Italian women's football and will hold the rights to show Women's Serie A matches in 2024/25, so nothing is changing from 2023/24.

Every single Women's Serie A fixture, then, will be shown on DAZN. Rai will also show 28 matches over the course of the league season - one per Matchday - as well as the Coppa Italia Femminile and Supercoppa Italiana Femminile finals, so 30 in all.

When does the new Women's Serie A season begin?

As well as the television rights deal being confirmed on Friday, August 9, the opening weekend's fixture list was also published by the FIGC.

The 2024/25 season will begin at Fiorentina's Viola Park, where the Viola welcome Napoli Femminile on Friday, August 30, at 18:00 CEST. Newly-promoted Lazio host Italian champions AS Roma that same night in a tasty Rome Derby to kick off the campaign.

The opening weekend continues on Saturday with Inter vs Sampdoria at 18:00 CEST, before Sassuolo vs Juventus kicks off Sunday's action (again at 18:00 CEST) and Como Women vs AC Milan brings the Matchday 1 fixtures to an end with a 20:30 CEST start.
