Inter begin their Serie A 2024/25 campaign on the road and will travel to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to face Genoa on the opening matchday, knowing they are the team everyone wants to beat.
By all accounts, Genoa recorded a pretty average season in the 2023/24 campaign, finishing the year with 12 wins, 13 draws and 13 losses. Given they had just returned from Serie B, there will have been no complaints.
On the other hand, the Nerazzurri are the dominant force in Serie A, and after last season's Scudetto, they are looking to win their second title in a row for the first time since the late 2000s.

Alberto Gilardino is already facing an injury crisis and the season has not begun, meaning his team is effectively picking itself. Summer signing Vitinha is the only fit striker with Albert Gudmundsson injured. Caleb Ekuban and David Ankeye are also sidelined with injuries.
Whilst Simone Inzaghi may have similar worries, the degree of them is not as severe. Lautaro Martinez will likely start but his minutes will be limited, which could allow Mehdi Taremi to play a role.
Stefan de Vrij, Piotr Zielinski and Marko Arnautovic are all set to miss the game, with the latter two set for a return at the beginning of September.
