Serie A table after Matchday 37
The Serie A table is beginning to take its final form for the season and Matchday 37 has seen important results everywhere. The focus is on the European qualification spots and that final relegation spot above Cremonese and Sampdoria.
The action began on Friday night as Sampdoria fans were forced to watch their side again, although they did so whilst creating an incredible atmosphere. After a flurry of early goals, they drew 2-2 at home to Sassuolo.
There were four games on Saturday and they started with Salernitana coming from 2-0 down to beat Udinese 3-2. There was also an emphatic 4-0 win for Torino away at Spezia that leaves the Ligurians in real trouble.
AS Roma took an early lead away at Fiorentina and held it until the 85th minute, before conceding twice in the final five minutes. It was a result that assures Roma will not finish in the top four this season.
On Saturday evening, Inter went 2-0 up in six minutes at home to Atalanta, eventually winning the game 3-2. That booked their place in the top four. AC Milan's place was also sealed with that result due to their superior head-to-head record over Atalanta, and they celebrated by beating Juventus 1-0 in Turin on Sunday.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Lecce sealed survival with a 1-0 win at Monza, meaning Spezia and Verona will be in a fight against the drop on Matchday 38. Verona only drew 1-1 against Empoli.
Bologna and Napoli ended 2-2 and Lazio beat Cremonese 3-2.
