Italy will take on England in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 at the Stade de Geneve, with the winner facing either Germany or Spain in the final.

For Andrea Soncin's Italy side, there is almost nothing to lose now. Getting out of Group B was the expected achievement, but the dramatic late win against Norway in the quarter-final means the Azzurre now face the holders, England.

The tournament has not been smooth for the Lionesses, with Sarina Wiegman's side starting the group stage by losing to France. They also had to come from behind against Sweden in the quarter-final, before eventually winning a penalty shoot-out which seriously lacked quality. There is no doubt that England are favourites to reach the final, but they have certainly not looked unstoppable.

England vs Italy: Predicted line-ups

The major story regarding England's team selection for this semi-final is Leah Williamson. The captain had to go off with an ankle injury against Sweden and she is fighting to ensure she can start. Providing she is passed fit, Wiegman is expected to go with the same lineup that has started the last three games.

Her resolve in that regard may have been tested by the positive substitute performances of Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang against Sweden, but they could have to settle for the bench again.

Andrea Soncin's lineup selections have been very hard to predict at this tournament, but he will most likely field a back three which could see Martina Lenzini come back into the side, whilst Lisa Boattin may also return. That would likely see Barbara Bonansea and Lucia Di Guglielmo drop back to the bench having started against Norway.

England predicted XI vs Italy (4-3-3): Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Carter, Greenwood; Toone, Walsh, Stanway; James, Hemp, Russo.

Italy predicted XI vs England (3-5-2): Giuliani; Lenzini, Salvai, Linari; Oliviero, Caruso, Giugliano, Severini, Boattin; Cantore, Girelli.
